JC9894.  Andradite.  Bendougou village, Arrondissement Diakon, Commune Diakon, Cercle de Bafoulabe, Kayes region, Mali.   8 x 10 cm  365g.  $80.00.   Several brilliant luster black andradite crystals.  There are some nearly black acicular crystals perched down in the garnet crystals that I am guessing are one of the varieties of hornblende.  There are a few greenish, somewhat acicular epidote crystals of small size here and there on the specimen.   The black andradite from here is frequently referred to as melanite, however melanite has a titanium component in the formula and I am not sure these qualify as melanite.    ON SALE, TAKE 60% OFF THE MARKED PRICE

JC11207Andradite, scheelite.  Ridge top prospect, Bishop tungsten district, Coyote ridge, Inyo county, California.  5 x 6 cm  192g.   $15.00.  The Ridge top prospect is a small prospect on the top of Coyote Ridge, about half way between the northern edge of the tungsten skarn area and the southern edge of the tungsten skarn area, it is on the west center side of Coyote Ridge.  The matrix is a lighter color than the Merrill prospect, and is frequently infused with small blebs of scheelite and sometimes as crude crystals with the garnet.   In this piece there is a nice subhedral scheelite crystal on the top edge.  These were rare in this occurrence.   There is another much smaller crystal on the lower left just visible in the photo.   ON SALE, TAKE 60% OFF THE MARKED PRICE

JC11214. Barite.  Meikle mine, Goldstrike mines, Bootstrap district, Elko county, Nevada.   8 x 16.5 cm  711g  $150.00  Large plate of barite crystals, with light yellow color, dozens of them on the plate.  Gemmy, transparent, glassy luster, without the internal fracturing so common on barites from here.   Very pretty, with almost no damage, except on the edges. When I got this specimen it had a large amount of heavy matrix on the back side that I had to saw off to make it presentable, so the back side is sawn.     ON SALE, TAKE 40% OFF THE MARKED PRICE

JC11894.   Barite.  Kunming, Yunnan, China.  9 x 11 cm 416g   $275.00.   Although the label says Guizhou, this is completely different from any barites I've seen from that area.  Kunming has produced identical pieces, so this is much more likely.  This collection I acquired has had a few label issues, and I think this is one.  Beautiful, clear, gemmy, chisel shaped barite crystals on a flat plate.     ON SALE, TAKE 60% OFF THE MARKED PRICE

JC11893.   Barite.  Washington county, Missouri. 6.5 x 7.5 cm 293g  $35.00.   Label says “Russet crested, Platte River, MO.” No such location as Russet or Russet crested.  There are numerous old barite mines in Washington county, so this is probably a locality known to the locals.    The rust color is not as strong as the photo shows, specimen over all is slightly off white.    ON SALE, TAKE 60% OFF THE MARKED PRICE

JC11426.  Barite.  Dufton Fell Mine, Dufton, Eden, Cumbria, England, UK.  5 x 6 cm  93g.  $135.00   An old piece from this long closed mine.  On the back it has a bit of brown goethite as a thin layer.  Some minor rubbing on the crystal terminations, not surprising as it probably was collected in the early 1900's.  Rarely ever seen for sale.    ON SALE, TAKE 60% OFF THE MARKED PRICE
JC9535.     Barite.  Willow creek, Freighter spring, Mount Borah, Lost River range, Custer county, Idaho.  12 x 16 cm  $150.00.   >1000g.   Approximately 3.5 cm crystals with a cleaved larger crystal on the top of the specimen just to the right of the edge on crystal on the top center.  The crystal in the left front of the specimen on the lower left has been cleaved off.  This was a large specimen with quite a bit of matrix with broken crystals on the back and base, so it has a sawn base and back to get rid of the 10 Lbs or so of bad matrix.  The left edge in this photo has several broken/cleaved crystals visible in the photo.    ON SALE, TAKE 60% OFF THE MARKED PRICE

JC11786.  Beryllonite.  Dara-e-Pech pegmatite field, Dara-e-Pech district, Kunar, Afghanistan.   3.5 x 5.5 cm   $500.00  The finest examples of Beryllonite are those from Afghanistan. This rare sodium beryllium phosphate is often found in smaller, nondescript specimens from various other pegmatite localities around the world, but the specimens from Afghanistan are incredibly well-formed, large and beautiful. This piece is a good-sized, sharp, well-formed, euhedral, pseudo-hexagonal (monoclinic) crystal group of Beryllonite showing the typical heavily striated prism edges, free of matrix. The piece is actually a complete "floater" with no damage or point of attachment anywhere. This piece dates back to the mid to late 1990s, when some of the best examples of the material came out of Afghanistan.  Specimens are virtually not available for sale these days.  One dealer had one very similar to this one in size etc. for $2,500.00  ON SALE, TAKE 60% OFF THE MARKED PRICE.

JC12363.  Calcite, hemimorphite.   Viola mine, Nicholia district, Lemhi county, Idaho.   5 x 9 cm  152g.  $10.00.    Back in the late 1880's and early 1900's, the Viola mine was one of the largest producers of lead, zinc, and silver in Idaho.  It had a thriving town, now gone.  The low grade ore consisted almost entirely of hemimorphite and some smithsonite.  This is an example of the low grade zinc ore, with micro crystalline hemimorphite crystals partially covered by somewhat blebby calcite crystals.  Good example for a locality piece.         ON SALE, TAKE 40% OFF THE MARKED PRICE.

A mass of calcite crystals that was very lightly attached to the ceiling of the water course.  The point of attachment is quite small on the base of the piece, so it looks like a near floater.   Pretty and sparkly.  ON SALE, TAKE 60% OFF THE MARKED PRICE.

JC5065.  Cerussite.  Daoping Lead-Zinc mine, Guangxi prov., China.  6 x 8 cm  389g.  $90.00.   A tough one to photograph, as the crystals blend together.  Has reticulated crystals, bladed crystals, and "snowflake" crystals all together.  One of the brighter, prettier cerussites I've seen from here.  Two views are shown to try to get an idea of the myriad crystals composing this specimen.  Reminds me of the old 9 level cerussites from the Bunker Hill mine that came out in the 1980's.   This one will be mailed packed in soap powder due to its fragility.  These were found earlier on at the Daoping mine.ON SALE TAKE 60% OFF THE LISTED PRICE
